Did you know we have 42 Oklahoma counties listed on our doula directory?
Sunset Death Doula Collective is committed to serving our rural community.
The question we hear most often: What is a death doula?
A death death doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, practical, and educational support to individuals and families navigating the end-of-life journey. Every person's needs are unique, and a death doula provides tailored care that honors each individual's values, wishes, culture, and goals. From advance care planning and legacy projects to bedside companionship and family support, death doulas offer a compassionate presence before, during, and after death.
Our
Mission
We work to transform the culture around death and dying in our communities while expanding access to personalized end-of-life care that honors values, choices, and cultural traditions.
The Three Pillars of Our Mission
Pillar One: The Doula Fund
Through our Doula Fund, doulas can apply to be reimbursed for the care they provide, allowing clients to receive services at low or no cost. By compensating doulas for their time, expertise, and compassion, we help remove financial barriers so that anyone who wants the support of a death doula can have access to one.
Pillar Two: Community Education
Sunset Death Doula Collective fosters open conversations about death, dying, and doulas through speaking engagements and educational workshops across Oklahoma. By bringing people together, we aim to increase awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding death, and empower individuals and communities to approach end-of-life planning with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
Pillar Three: Community Connection
Through our Oklahoma Death Doula Directory, we make it easier for individuals and families to find and connect with local death doulas by providing contact information and the counties each doula serves. We also cultivate a supportive network for Oklahoma death doulas through networking events, peer support groups, and ongoing community engagement. We believe no doula should have to do this work alone.
What A Doula Can Do For You
